Abstract
Abstract—Due to recent policies embracing green renewable energy in the world, the adoption of electric vehicles has increased in India in recent years. Consequently, this necessitates the need of many charging networks. To analyze and assess an `Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment` (EVSE) that incorporates the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) and is most suited to the unique power grid of India. The aim is to the smooth ENEV infrastructural charging distribution across the country. The system incorporates constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) charging, active thermal regulation to control battery overheating, a Battery Management System (BMS) that current limits to avoid overcurrent, and OCPP 2.0.1 communication to/from the charger and the central management system. The experiments were conducted on 2 AC charge configurations, 16 A and 32 A, with electrical power ratings of 3.7kW and 7.36kW respectively. The experiments used a 40kWh Lithium polymer battery and focused on the state of charge (SOC) of 20% to 80%. The results indicated that, at the 32 A configuration, the total charging time was approximately halved when compared to the 16 A configuration.
