Abstract
: Power systems should be designed to match the current growing demand for electrical energy. The main objective of the transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem is to meet the growing demand for electrical energy while maintaining effective system performance at minimum cost. This paper proposes a computer program in DIgSILENT software for the TEP problem considering short circuit, contingency, and load uncertainties. The proposed TEP problem is conducted using the backward-forward method. This method is implemented in DIgSILENT software using Python programming language. One of the main advantages of the proposed TEP problem is the use of application software and the incorporation of technical constraints into the planning problem. The TEP problem is developed considering short-circuit constraints, analyzing the costs of power switches and their impact on planning, as well as incorporating the probability of contingencies. The uncertainties in loads are modeled using information gap decision theory (IGDT). The TEP problem is tested on the six-bus Garver system. According to the results, the network can accommodate a 15% increase in load under normal and a 5% increase under uncertain conditions.
