Abstract
Reconfiguration of electrical distribution systems with distributed generations (DGs) involves changing the state of the grid switch to optimize its performance, often minimizing power losses and voltage deviations, while improving reliability. DGs, such as solar or wind power, add complexity to the process due to their variable output, requiring advanced algorithms to find optimal configurations that balance power flow, ensure voltage stability, and respect protection system constraints. The benefits of DG reconfiguration include: reduced losses, improved voltage, increased reliability, and improved operational efficiency. In this paper, a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model is presented for the dual-objective optimization of power distribution system rearrangement and the simultaneous location of DG, utilizing GAMS software. The objective of this model is to minimize active power losses and voltage deviation by considering power dissipation and voltage/current components as functions of their real and imaginary parts. The method, which has been tested on a 33-bus electrical system, shows a significant reduction in power losses (72.97%) and voltage deviation (94.77%). The key aspects of the model are: dual-objective function, MINLP formulation, GAMS software, network modeling, and simultaneous optimization. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the MINLP model in improving the voltage profile and reducing losses in distribution networks, especially with the integration of DG.
